I HAVE A PASSION FOR ART. I'VE STUDIED WITH MANY OF THE BEST TEACHERS AND PAINTERS, SOMETIMES IN EXOTIC LOCALES AROUND THE WORLD - ABSORBING, ADMIRING, PAINTING, ALL THE WHILE DEVELOPING MY STYLE. MY REAL TEACHER, HOWEVER, HAS BEEN THE PROCESS OF CREATING ART. I LOOK FOR DESIGN AND COLOR, AND TRY TO ACHIEVE AN ESSENTIAL RADIANCE, FROM NATURE AND FROM THE HUMAN FIGURE, AND TO ALLOW THE DIVINE CREATIVE PROCESS TO TAKE OVER. I TRY DAILY TO BE AN ARTIST. . . AND I WELCOME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE MY ART WITH YOU.

I set up on the sidewalk and painted this "en plein air" in Monterossa, one of the Cinque Terre towns of Italy. I like the feeling of movement here, and of capturing a moment in time.

Plein air (on location) painting is a wonderful experience and nothing beats it for getting the "feeling" of a place into the painting. In November 2008 I will be teaching a plein-air workshop in Tubac, Arizona. Go to www.manos.com for more information, or contact me; and I regularly teach 3-day workshops at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson, Arizona.
- For many years my passion for painting has been limited to watercolor, and those of your who are regular visitors to my website may be surprised to learn that I am now also painting with oils. Here is a glimpse of some of my recent oil paintings.
